This offerers up a meaty, roasty nose that is a bit hotter than the 81 and retains a decidedly roasted cherry fruit aspect that pairs well with the predominant cigar wrapper nose. A bit tough and even hollow on the midpalate. Big and loosely knit with lots of soft tannin supporting an earthy, woodsy core of fruit. This lacks the focus of the 81 and seems to have had the freshness cooked out it by the vintage. Drink em if you got em

Raisin colored with a nose full of leather. Spices and oak were the predominate flavors, with a notes of pepper in the mid-palate and subtle raisin at the end. Mild tannins made the bottle easily drinkable. Paired lovely with duck breast.

Winemaker's Notes:

A top class St. Estephe wine. There is good ripe fruit on the palate with a soft cedary finish. A well-produced wine from what was a difficult vintage.
