Clerc Milon '06 is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc. Its color is dense blackberry with a graduated purple rim. The nose is pure and ripe with a breadth and 'sweet' undertone. The taste starts pure and cool, then shows a concentrated center, finishing with firm tannins. A very fine, reserved wine. Tasted from barrel April '07. After barrel aging, Clerc Milon reveals a beautiful, pure, high class nose with youthful reserve and moderate concentration. Initially closed, the palate opens to reveal purity and a lingering richness backed by a firm structure. This classy, medium-bodied Pauillac is elegant and fresh. Tasted January '09. Robert Parker 91+.
Château Clerc Milon, classified a Fifth Growth in 1855, consists of 107 acres of vines, planted with the typical varieties of the region : 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot, 1% Carmenère. Adjoining two Pauillac First Growths, Lafite and Mouton, the estate had become somewhat neglected when it was bought by Baron Philippe in 1970. Vines were replanted by staff from Château Mouton Rothschild, parcels were consolidated and many technical improvements were made, including the building or a new vat room. These efforts are now bearing fruit and Château Clerc Milon has become one of the most sought-after Médoc wines, displaying a richness and depth comparable with the region's finest

Winemaker's Notes:
From the same stable as Mouton Rothschild and d'Armailhac, Clerc Milon, despite the relatively high percentage of Merlot (44%) combined with 50%Cabernet Sauvignon and the balance Cabernet Franc, is dense, rich, tannic, andbackward. Surprisingly muscular for this offering, which often exhibits a moreprecocious side, it offers up abundant amounts of creme brulee, chocolate, cedar, and black currants. This full-bodied Pauillac displays gorgeous purityand depth as well as moderately high tannins in the finish. Because of itsfreshness, structure, and density, it is reminiscent of a 1996 Medoc.
