Sleek and racy with a beautiful structure of very fine tannins and ripe fruit. There are minerals currants and berries throughout yet it s subtle and caressing. Lovely wine. I like this as much as the 2000. Best after 2007. (JS) Wine Spectator.

($28-$30) Medium ruby-red. Aromas of cassis, minerals, violet and licorice. Typically backward and reserved for this wine at this stage, with a somewhat medicinal austerity. This was sweeter than the Armailhac a year ago but not today. Longer on the ... Stephen Tanzer's IWC. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2001 Clerc Milon 750ml

( 34- 40) Ruby-red. Ripe aromas of licorice bitter chocolate roasted herbs tar and exotic spices. Supple round and pliant with redcurrant licorice and herbal flavors. Finishes with surprisingly sweet tannins nicely buffered by the wine s fat. A very good showing for this wine. 90 points Stephen Tanzers IWC.

All in all this is an impressive Pauillac in terms of length and powe

Winemaker's Notes:

Berry Bros & Rudd review: 'Currants and lead pencil, with ripe fruit on the nose. Full-bodied and very strong, with lots of tannins, but incredibly refined and polished. Almost classic in quality. Serious Clerc. Better than the 2000.' (Wine Spectator - 28-Mar-2002)
