Chateau Cantenac Brown 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

Despite the most difficult vintage in the last 10 years according to HenriLurton, Brane-Cantenac have produced a highly attractive, feminine,early-drinking Margaux in 2007. With more Cabernet Sauvignon (53%) than usualin the blend, only a minuscule 25% of the crop made it into the Grand Vin,showing the sacrifice required to succeed in this tricky year. An attractivenose of ripe strawberries and chocolate leads on to a sophisticated raspberryand cream palate with a lovely racy, fruit-driven finish. With a finessereminiscent of top Burgundy, this classic, well-crafted Margaux is as goodvalue as ever.

Very herbaceous nose, slightly oaky yet rather classic in a lean style, floral and berries with freshly crushed fruit notes – soft entry, rich and velvety feel, perhaps a bit too extracted, has a bit too much tannin, dark coffee flavors, a bit middy on the mid-palate, woody finish (85-86)

Floral and light on the nose with a grilled meaty edge touched with baking spices and a bit of cooked rhubarb – lean entry, tight, soft ripe tannins, mid-palate is bright but a touch lean, dry finish is short and savory (85-86)

53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc. Only 25% of total harvest made it into the Grand Vin. The dark fruit and earthiness dance nicely together. Very nice complexity and overall effort. Early drinking for this estate, but that is a g... Alex Lallos. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2007 Brane-Cantenac 750ml

Distinguished by its width on entry the wine develops fruity with a rather magical touch on the palate. Melting and showing fine tannins on the finish. This is a wine distinguished for the quality of its aromas yet it is also decently structured. This is very hard to spit out. Jean-Marc Quarin - www.quarin.com
