The wine displays a sustained and brilliant color of great depth with all the elegance of an evening gown. The nose has already evolved and shows black currant and other black fruit aromas. On the palate the wine's tannins are soft and smooth with a steady balance and a long fresh finish. Aromas of fruit tobacco and licorice harmoniously blend with those from the oak giving rise to flavors which coat the palate without roughness. The overall impression is of a tender and soft wine which has passed through a spirited youth to reveal the elegance typical of Cantemerle's terroir. Harmony and a certain femininity define this wine which demonstrates this property's legendary ability to produce vintages which maintain a potential for great finesse at every stage of their evolution Winemaker notes

Winemaker's Notes:

"Supple and nicely focused, with currant, plum and cherry notes judiciously toasted, which lets a pretty floral note chime on the finish..87-90" WS 04/12 "Pretty blackberry and blueberry character with medium to full body, fine tannins and a fresh finish...89-90" JS 04/12 "This is a traditional, authentic example of Cantemerle’s vineyard as well as its general winemaking style. Elegant and mid-weight with a finesse-filled style, the 2011 exhibits a dark ruby hue with purple nuances in addition to a bouquet of mulberries, cranberries and black cherries intermixed with flowers and forest floor. Medium-bodied and soft as well as crunchy and vibrant, it can be enjoyed over the next 10-12 years...88-90" WA 04/12
