This broad, fleshy style delivers toasty spice and tobacco notes up front, followed by dark cocoa, crushed plum and mulled blackberry fruit flavors. This really stretches out nicely in the glass, with alluring dark fruit and a velvety feel. Drink now... Wine Spectator. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2009 Cantemerle 750ml
This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with the Cabernet dominating, looks to be the best they have ever produced, even eclipsing the 2005. After belonging to the Villeneuve (1576- 1892) and Dubos (1892- 1980) families, Château Cantemerle was acquired by a major mutual insurance company, the SMABTP (Les Mutuelles d'Assurance du Bâtiment et des Travaux Publics), in 1981. The winemaking facilities were completely renovated and Cantemerle now enjoys a privileged position among the classified growths in the Haut-Médoc appellation. Human know-how makes the most of the estate's considerable natural blessings. The grapes are handpicked and carefully sorted. Small lots from individual vineyard plots are fermented separately in wide, low, wooden vats for the slow, gentle extraction of tannin. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for twelve months and lightly fined before château bottling.
Very structured wine, with black currant fruit and dense acidity. The tannins are dark, firm, solid. This is a fine wine from Cantemerle, reveling in the richness of the vintage. Wine Enthusiast. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2009 Cantemerle 750ml
"This younger sibling of a classed growth clearly shows its family ties. With generous finesse it envelopes the mouth in fruit aromas, already offering great pleasure at so young an age. Wine Makers Notes.
