Chateau Cantemerle Medoc 1983

Winemaker's Notes:

91 points Robert Parker (Bordeaux Book, 3rd ed.): The 1983 is special, and one of the finest wines of this vintage. The color remains dark ruby/purple and the bouquet explodes from the glass with scents of ripe plums, flowers, and oak. On the palate, this generous wine is supple, concentrated, extremely long in the finish, with soft tannins. This is Cantemerle's lushest and ripest style of wine. It has aged at a glacial pace, much like two of this vintage's other stars, Chateau Margaux and Chateau Palmer. (Jan 1998)

These lovely buildings, in perfect harmony with the rest of the estate, nonetheless contain state-of-the-art technology. They are home to three temperature-controlled vat rooms with a total capacity of 8000 hl, a wooden vat room of 3400 hl for old vines, a 2200-hl stainless steel vat room mainly used for young vines, and a 2400-hl cement vat used for blending.
