A fine medium ruby in the glass this wine has a rich nose of earth, black tea, and bacon fat, wile on the palate it is dominated by herbal, black cherry, and raspberry flavors and tannins so velvety smooth that you almost don't want to swallow. The wine is nicely balanced and seems to shift its flavors, making it hard to pin down - at one moment redcurrant, at another rosehips. The finish is very nice.

Saturated ruby. Fresh red and dark berries on the nose and palate, with a touch of licorice adding depth. At once juicy and smooth, finishing with good clarity and no rough edges. I suspect that this wine will be enjoyable on the young side.

The 2010s can be drunk now or cellared for a decade. Both cuvandeacute;es possess more intensity and richness than their 2011 counterparts. The 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape, a blend of 65% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 12% Mourvedre and the rest Cinsault from 45- to 90-year-old vines, reveals plenty of balsam wood, Provencal herbs, pepper and kirsch liqueur. It is an attractive, seductive, medium to full-bodied 2010 to enjoy over the next decade.

Deep ruby. An expressive bouquet evokes dark berries, cherry compote and spice cake, with subtle minerality. Juicy, somewhat jammy blackberry and cherry flavors blend density and energy, with good mineral spine. Fresh and sweet on the finish, which repeats the spicy notes. This looks like it will drink well young.

Oxidized aromas of stewed fruit, raisin, fruitcake, spice, dark olive, black currant and cherry. Round and compact with good intensity of flavor and a firm tannic grip to the finish which adds to the length. Drink: 2015.

Silky and perfumy up front, with warm cherry pie, linzer torte and red licorice flavors, this soon turns dark and more reticent, with grippy charcoal, blackberry and plum skin notes taking over on the finish. Shows plenty of stuffing. Just needs a little time to round into form. Best from 2013 through 2020.

Has a sun-dried cherry, raspberry nose with an ultra-lush, velvety mouthfeel. The flavors are well-balanced with notes of blackberry and a clean, bright, red berry finish. Delicious and full of lively fruit; a great wine for any occasion.
