Château Bois Martin Red Bordeaux Blend Pessac-Léognan 2010
Wine Advocate #162 (Dec 2005) The 2004 Larkmead Vineyard (a 1,400-case bend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Petite Verdot, and 9% Malbec) is another example of just how special this Napa Valley site is. Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by aromas of graphite, licorice, flowers, and black currants in addition to some minerality. This medium to full-bodied, noble, complex red should benefit from 1-2 years of cellaring and drink well for 10-12 years. Ramey kindly did a vertical of his two single-vineyard Chardonnays from the Hyde and Hudson Vineyards, and it was interesting that the Hudson aged quickly and was beginning to fade after 2-3 years, but the Hyde wines, even the oldest one, the 1996, were fresh and superb. David Ramey also has a successful consulting business. His list of clients includes the likes of Benziger, Saracina, Dierburg, Niebaum-Coppola, Lancaster, Audellsa, Landmark, Snowden, Rodney Strong, and Manoogian.

Chateau Bois Martin is in a superb location quite close to the village of Léognan, just off the main road. This small vineyard is bordered by two Great Growths, Chateau Fieuzal and Chateau Malartic-Lagravière. The white wines fermented and aged in oak barrels are exemplary crisp, elegant, dry white Graves of the Pessac Leognan district.
