Chateau Bois-Martin Pessac-Leognan 2005

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought this bottle of wine for £10 from the website www.bidforwine.co.uk/auctions/show/133380.The Pessac-Leognan appellation was created in 1987 out of what had been the northern part of the Graves appellation and is very close to the southern part of the City of Bordeaux My bottle comes from a small 10 hectare property which became a part of the Bernard Magrez empire in 2017 and consists of 65% cabernet sauvignon and 35% merlot.I started the bottle last night with my supper of roast pork. There is plenty of fresh blackcurrant, bramble and blueberry style fruit with a hint of licorice and some soft but beautifully structured tannins. In short, this is a first class claret. I am not the only one to think so because this 2005 vintage got a silver medal at the 2008 Concours Mondial Bruxelles wine competition.
