Château Belle-Vue Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend Haut-Médoc 2008
Finally a modern-style, excellent quality Claret that is affordable to all but the indigent. Bottled in heavy glass weighty enough to bring down a nasty criminal, this wine opens up with an inviting plum, smoke and coffee nose. Almost black, it is deeper, more integrated and satisfying than either its neighbor Gironville or prior vintages. The entry is smooth and luscious with delicious black fruit and coffee. The Petit Verdot component works well - contrary to comments ascribed to Peter Sichel on this variety. Excellent value and approachable now.
