Château Belle-Vue Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend Haut-Médoc 2003

Winemaker's Notes:

WINE: "The climatic conditions were exceptional this year for the Petit Verdot, which then became an important variety in this blend. The nose is dominated by notes that are associated with this variety (flowers, cherries). On the palate, this wine is rich and bold, and has a refreshing finish, something rare for the 2003 vintage. This is a wine with great balance and structure that denotes it will age nicely." "Blend of 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, and 27% Petit Verdot. The wine was fermented over a period of 4 weeks, with daily pumping overs. Aged in 40% new oak barrels and 60% in one year barrels. The barriques were a mix of Troncais and Hungarian and were aged for 12-14 months." -Winery; translated by KM

Acquired by Vincent Mulliez in 2004, Château BELLE-VUE results from a terroir whose history merges with that of the wine of Bordeaux. Located on the commune typically “médocaine” of Macau, yesterday seat of an active shipping industry, now famous for its vineyards, this vineyard knows a true rebirth. Château BELLE-VUE enjoyed a very good reputation from the 19th century and won many awards: Gold medal in Amsterdam in 1895, as well as silver medals in Brussels (1897), Paris (1900) and Bordeaux (1907). Over the last vintages, notably since 1999, the wines of Château BELLE-VUE have been regularly distinguished with honours and medals in wine competitions and in the international press. The 10 hectare vineyard is located on a plateau with deep gravely soil (7-10 metres) adjacent to Château Giscours (Margaux AOC). The soil is naturally well drained, enabling the grapes to ripe early. A strong success, the 2003 offers a fragrant bouquet of black cherry jam, cedar, and toasty vanilla, a beautiful texture, and considerable persistence on the palate. The final blend included 27% Petit... Robert Parker. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2003 Belle Vue 750ml
