This estate was originally called 'Chateau Coutenceau' but the name was changed in 1845 partly in honour of Londoner owner Bruno Daves Belgravia home and partly to reflect the terroir as 'belle grave' roughly translates as 'beautiful gravel' In 1855 it became a fifth growth in the great classification. This estate was originally called 'Chateau Coutenceau' but the name was changed in 1845 partly in honour of Londoner owner Bruno Daves Belgravia home and partly to reflect the terroir as 'belle grave' roughly translates as 'beautiful gravel' In 1855 it became a fifth growth in the great classification.
