Decanted for over an hour. Plenty of herbs, perfect with rack of lamb smothered in mustard and rosemary, beautiful fruit just rounding into form. Not perfect - it could have been richer and riper. Still, one of the best wine meals I've had. Plenty of flavor and aroma - lots of wonderful herbs. Savory, meaty - hits the glutamate receptor hard. A counterpoint to the gaminess of the lamb. Washed it down without washing away the flavor. Enhanced it, if anything. I wanted more.

Full ruby-red. Aromas of raspberry and smoked meat. More imploded and less sweet than the La Chapelle but a bit more serious, owing to its firmer acids and tannins. In a more vibrant and quite different style, but this gained in sweetness with aerati... Stephen Tanzers IWC. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2006 Bahans-Haut-Brion 750ml

Good deep red. Black raspberry, sassafras, road tar and spicy oak on the nose. Sweet berry fruit shows an almost liqueur-like creaminess, but a peppery element and good underlying minerality lend grip to the finish, which features a fine dusting of t... Stephen Tanzers IWC. Elegant, with nice berry and tobacco character and hints of vanilla. It's medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a light finish.

Good medium ruby-red. Expressive nose combines red cherry, raspberry, minerals and flowers. Minerally and firm, with sound acids giving the flavors good definition. Fresh and lively wine, finishing with substantial tongue-dusting tannins. 87-88 poin... Stephen Tanzer. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2001 Bahans-Haut-Brion 750ml

Berry, tobacco and coffee aromas. Medium- to full-bodied, with lots of flavor and a silky and luscious finish. A tasty second wine from Château Haut-Brion. Best after 2007. -JS Wine Spectator. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2000 Bahans-Haut-Brion 750ml
