This 10 year old wine from the revered 2005 vintage exudes a melange of black and red berry on the nose - with a touch of wet loam... quite rich, without being jammy. On entry, there is vanilla (light oak), a noticeable pucker on the palate suffused with gobs of wild bilberry and sweet cherry. Will keep 5-7 more years but fine for drinking now. 90 points.

Good deep red. Black raspberry, sassafras, road tar and spicy oak on the nose. Sweet berry fruit shows an almost liqueur-like creaminess, but a peppery element and good underlying minerality lend grip to the finish, which features a fine dusting of t... Stephen Tanzers IWC. Full ruby-red. Aromas of raspberry and smoked meat. More imploded and less sweet than the La Chapelle but a bit more serious, owing to its firmer acids and tannins. Elegant, with nice berry and tobacco character and hints of vanilla. It's medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a light finish.

Soft and balanced, showing lovely velvety tannins and lots of coffee, chocolate, toasty oak and mushroom character, with bright fruit underneath. Full-bodied, round and unctuous. The second wine, the 2005 Bahans-Haut-Brion, is a fruit-forward, deliciously soft, round, stylish offering possessing hints of figs, plums, black currants, cherries, and minerals. Soft, with supple tannin, it is ideal for drinking over the next 12-15 years.
