Château Angélus Red Bordeaux Blend St. Émilion Grand Cru 2001

Winemaker's Notes:

Berry Bros & Rudd review: Promoted to Premier Grand Cru Classe in 1996, Angelus has further enhanced its
status as one of Bordeaux's very top estates with another fabulous wine in
2001. An intense nose packed full of spice and a venison-like meatiness exudes
class while the palate boasts a cornucopia of flavours combining power with
grace to great effect. This is an `iron fist in a velvet glove' of a wine with
a seriously long, robust finish. Excellent.

...has shed much of its tannin, and seems far more evolved and open-knit than I thought prior to bottling. Its deep purple color is followed by a rich nose of creosote, charcoal, blackberries, plums, cassis, and espresso roast. Elegant, medium-bodied... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.
