Chassagne Montrachet Grandes Ruchottes Bernard Moreau 93 Vm 2013

Winemaker's Notes:

"Bright, light yellow. Ripe, expressive aromas of peach, pear and minerals. An outstanding expression of dense, ripe fruit with a firm supporting mineral underpinning. Shows an old-vines creaminess and volume without heaviness. Most impressive today on the gripping, bracing back end. This vineyard benefits from hard rocky subsoil...93+?" Stephen Tanzer, Vinous Media 09/15 "Outstanding! A very fresh and cool mix is composed of lemon rind, white flowers, pear and once again a hint of tangerine peel. There is very fine concentration thanks to the abundant dry extract that coats the palate and buffers the moderately firm acid spine that both shapes and supports the broad-shouldered flavors as well as the dry but not really austere finale. This faultlessly well-balanced effort should age well yet be approachable after only 4 to 5 years of cellar time...91-93" BH 06/15 "The 2013 Chassagne-Monrachet 1er Cru Les Grands Ruchottes comes from the domaine’s oldest vines planted all the way back in 1939. It has one of Moreau’s more expressive noses with hints of almond, melted butter, walnut and Mirabelle, gaining more and more intensity in the glass. The palate is very well balanced with a keen line of acidity. There is plenty of citrus fruit here, accompanied by orange peel and a dab of marmalade that segues toward a harmonious, quite tensile finish. This is divine...91-93" WA 12/14
