Chassagne Montrachet Chenevottes Bernard Moreau 92 2013

Winemaker's Notes:

" It has a clean and pure fresh melon, citrus peel and limestone-scented bouquet that offers hints of apricot with continued aeration. The palate is clean and fresh with more weight in the mouth than "les Vergers" however, there is no blowsiness here and the acidity keep things tight. It gradually builds to an orange-sorbet tinged, quite peppery finish that leaves a pleasant tingle on the tongue. It begs the question: what more do you want from a Chassagne-Montrachet?...92-94" WA 12/14 "Ripe peach and fruit salad aromas are complicated by tropical fruits and a vanilla nuance. Concentrated, tactile and lightly saline; not as tight today as the Vergers but boasts surprising balancing acidity. This very round, smooth, long wine delivers flavors of peach, vanilla and spices. The crop here is always tiny and very ripe, noted Moreau, adding that he picks the Chenevottes first in nine out of ten years...92" Stephen Tanzer, Vinous Media 09/15 "A deft touch of wood sets off pretty and ripe aromas of white peach, citrus and acacia blossom that are nuanced by discreet rosemary oil hints. Like many of the wines in the range there is lovely intensity to the opulent yet delineated medium weight flavors that culminate in a succulent, delicious and solidly persistent finish that offers the same fine depth. This is a bit more approachable than the Vergers and should drink well young if desired...90-92" BH 06/15
