Chassagne Montrachet Champs Gains Bernard Moreau 92 Jg 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

"Outstanding: This is more elegant and less obviously ripe with a more classic fruit profile that includes pear and citrus along with pretty white flower scents. There is excellent richness and even better intensity to the precise and energetic medium weight flavors that conclude in an explosively long and mouth coating finish. This is lovely and while not as enveloping, it's clearly finer than either the Vergers or the Maltroie...91-93" BH 02/12 "The 2010 Champgains is another stellar example of the vintage chez Moreau. The nose is deep, complex and utterly refined, offering up a classy blend of lemon, pear, apple, a deep base of soil, hints of pastry cream and a deft framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, nascently complex and very pure on the attack, with a fine core of fruit, lovely transparency, and very fine cut and grip on the long and youthful finish. I would tuck the 2010 Champgains away in the cellar for a few years and drink some of these more forward 2010 premier crus ahead of this lovely wine...92+" JG 11/11 "One of the hidden gems in this range, the 2010 Chassagne-Montrachet Champs Gain bursts from the glass with hints of nectarine, orange, mint, honey and butter. This is a decidedly racy, overt wine, especially in the aromas and flavors, although texturally it is a bit more laid back. It all adds up to a Burgundy of pure class. In 2010, the Champs Gain is flat-out delicious. It also happens to be singing, even today...92" WA 8/12
