Chassagne Montrachet Champgains Bernard Moreau 92 Vm 2013

Winemaker's Notes:

"Pale, bright yellow. Complex nose combines citrus scents, flinty minerals and nutty oak. Sweet on entry, with mirabelle, honey and wet stone flavors framed and lifted by lemony acidity. In a distinctly tight style and a bit youthfully disjointed, finishing with a firm edge. This wine struck me as less primary than the Chenevottes but in need of even more time in bottle...92+?" Stephen Tanzer, Vinous Media 09/15 "A more complex though not necessarily more elegant nose offers up cool and slightly smoky floral, red apple and citrus suffused aromas. There is excellent size, weight and richness to the medium-bodied flavors that retain a lovely sense of detail and plenty of punch before concluding in a saline and sappy finale. The finish is not as complex as the nose though I believe that more depth will develop to justify my predicted range...90-92" BH 06/15 "It has a stony, more reticent bouquet compared to the Maltroie ’13 at the moment. The palate is crisp and fresh with a keen line of acidity, vibrant citrus fruit and an almost effervescent finish that lingers nicely, yet it does not quite have the bravura of the Vergers of the Maltroie. Still, this is a well-crafted Chassagne that should age nicely over the next decade...89-91" WA 12/14
