Charles Smith Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley Chateau Smith 2008
Really intense oaky aroma with blackberries. The mouth is similar to the nose, with some smoked meat. Fairly dry, with strong body acidity and tannins. Smooth finish.
medium bodied, restrained american cab. a little rhone-y. good balance of fruit, acid, tannins. medium finish.
Tannins tickle the tongue like Thelonious Monk at a keyboard. This can be a good or bad thing depending on your orientation. For me it was the only high point of an otherwise Pinaceaean offering. Too much oak and pine for this ensemble to earn anything more than 3 glasses, sorry.
Rock star Winemaker Charles Smith of K Vintners has done an outstanding job with this sweet Cabernet from Washington State. Big, bold and best of all SUPER SMOOTH!
Four and a half glasses
