Charles Smith Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley 2007
Another contrived wine from Charles Smith. This guy has a undeserved reputation in my opinion . I have tasted 3 of his offerings a syrah , a merlot and now a cabernet. Boring and uninteresting. I am going to avoid any Charles Smith wines in the future. There are plenty of 2007 cabs from washington state in this price range that blow this wine out of the water. The nose is off. The mid palate is really boring. Very little berry concentration and the finish is watery.
I had this at a wine bar today. Great stuff at a great price. The labeling is a humorous bonus. I believe I know why the previous reviewer disliked this wine. It HAS to be decanted. I don't like this wine UNLESS it has been decanted. However, once the flavor has been allowed to percolate it's very tasty.
For the price point this wine is fine. Some What ordinary and not as full as I would choose. A table wine for the working class for sure ( that would be me). I can't afford to buy the wines I jump up and down over !
