Syrah: One of the few grapes to really be a global success. Syrah combines a meaty core of ripe berry fruit with tones that range from herbal to peppery in a package that tends to be medium bodied with good acidity and softer tannins. For the $3 I paid for this bottle, I'm hard pressed to find anything else that matches the value for money, especially in the $10 and under range. I've always stuck with Echelon and Rosenblum Syrah at around $8 to $10 a pop, but this is just as good and possibly even easier to drink. I honestly can't think of anything until you get to the Kendall Jackson Syrah at about $13-15 a bottle that I'd rather drink than this.

Lightly sour aroma and sharply sour flavor with a good amount of tannic bitterness. Pretty harsh, but still fruity. Not good, but drinkable, and super cheap.

My husband and I were very pleasantly surprised with this Shiraz. It was full bodied but soft, no harsh tannins; extremely drinkable.
