Charles Shaw Cabernet Sauvignon California 2010

Member Review by Cheap Wine Critic:

The "two-buck Chuck," along with Yellowtail, was what I typically drank before I started getting into wine, so I figured why not give it a proper evaluation? While it's about as close as you can get to Hi-C in a wine bottle, the 2010 Charles Shaw (does the vintage really matter at this price point?) is actually a fairly easy-drinking, fruit forward wine. Once you make it past the first few sips, which are saccharine and syrupy with a sharp boozy edge, this wine is not all that bad. Nowadays, I'd definitely go for an eight dollar Smoking Loon Cab before this, but if you're on a serious budget and mainly looking to get drunk, you can't get much cheaper. It doesn't really taste like Cabernet to me (more like a cheap Zinfandel), but when you're talking three dollars a bottle, who cares where the grapes come from?

Doesn't taste like a cab at all. Thin and sweet like a cheap zin, but if you are buying a $3 bottle of wine it's better than what you should expect. I won't buy it again but had to see what a $3 bottle tastes like

does not have the body of a zin, but, very good. Let it breath and it is delightful. lingering blackberry aftertaste. By far the best inexpensive cab I have had.

A nice glass along with a hot chic and a dip in the hot tub will quickly make you forget that this is a cheap wine. Tastes pretty good tonight. Thanks CS

<p>Charles Shaw Wine, better known as "Two Buck Chuck" because of it's $1.99 price tag in California is a bargain-priced premium wine available exclusively at Trader Joe's markets. Despite the low price tag their Cabernet Sauvignon is a respectable inexpensive table wine for the everyday wine drinker. The taste is very mellow with a hint of sweetness and has very little as far as aroma goes.</p>
