Food Pairings for Chariot Gypsy Red
Very enjoyable and easy to drink. Not too strong so I would avoid serving it with anything too spicy. Very nice, luscious fruit and an amazing value for $6.50 at Trader Joe's!!
AMAZING! I'm not surprised at all the internet buzz. there's some debate about whether the 07 is as good as previous vintages, but I really liked it. It's definitely jammy, and kind of reminds me of the Rosenblum Paso Robles Zin, if you like that style. But in any case, complex and full, and just not the kind of thing you expect for 5 bucks! Thank you trader joe's!
LOVED THIS BOTTLE! Easy to drink, traditional St helena flavors. Great sniff. Full of stealthy and flavorful fruit. Slight tannins. Made it really enjoyable. I dont think it will age very well but I am definitly heading to the store to pick up some more of this. Great find.
Pretty good, especially for the price, I paid $5 at Trader Joe's. Good but not great fruit and fairly well balanced. Overall, I think this is a good spaghetti wine. Maybe not for company, but when you need something quick for simple pasta with red sauce, reach for this. It will fill the bill without breaking the bank account. I will buy more if available.
Love this wine! I tried it at TJ's...ran out and bought a case. Drank it up and ran over to get the last case the store had on hand. I am going to cry when I run out...only a few bottles left. We had company from out of town visit us here in Santa Rosa. Our guests preferred this wine (at $5/bottle) over the other bottles that cost us 3-10x as much!
The 2008 ‘Gypsy’ displays a dark garnet color with a clear violet edge. It shows mixed fresh berry aromas -- raspberry and strawberry, with hints of white pepper and pastry. Very clean and lively with juicy berry fruit, firm acidity and a touch of smooth tannin. Excellent and versatile food wine particularly well suited for pork chops and poultry.
