Founded in 1972, J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines crafts an array of acclaimed wines from estate vineyards in Monterey County, Paso Robles and Napa Valley. From this world-class palette of fruit, J. Lohr produces three tiers of award-winning wines – J. Lohr Estates, J. Lohr Vineyard Series and J. Lohr Cuvée Series. Selecting Monterey County’s Arroyo Seco appellation for his original vineyard, Jerry planted his first 280 acres of grapes beginning in 1972. Ideally suited for cool-climate winegrowing, these vineyards have become an acclaimed source for outstanding Chardonnay, Riesling, Valdiguié and Pinot Noir. At the heart of J. Lohr’s renowned red wine program are its 2,000 acres of estate vineyards in Paso Robles. Featuring warm, sunny days, cool nights and diverse soils, these vineyards have proven ideal for cultivating a flavorful array of grapes including voluptuous and complex Bordeaux varietals of Cabernet, Merlot and Cabernet Franc along with Syrah and Zinfandel. I enjoyed this California Chardonnay the other night with friends. It was well balanced with notes of vanilla, golden apples and pears, with a little acidity coursing through as well. Very nice!

This Monterey Chardonnay is great value for the price. J. Lohr produces excellent reasonably priced wines of various varietals. This Riverstone Chardonnay has distinct flavors of buttery citrus with a well balanced acidity and tones of stone fruits. It has a smooth finish with no bitter after notes. Load up the truck!

Aromas of lime and grapefruit zest, nectarine, green apricots and wet stones are complemented by a smoky, butter, vanilla and toasted oak bouquet. The flavors echo the aromas with citrus, stone fruits, and smoky, toasty oak, producing layers of complexity with an excellent balance of acidity and palate weight.

One of the best Chards in this price category, this Monterey example is rich in tropical fruit, peach and spice flavors, and crisp in acidity. It has smoky oak, butter cream, a bit of lees mdash; in other words, the works.

Tastes of oak flavors; behind that the citrus, pear and cream notes emerge. Therersquo;s enough fruit to merit recommendation. Drink now.

Tempting tangerine, pear, butterscotch and toast aromatics lead to ripe fruit that is richly textured with honey nuances. This is a full flavored Chardonnay characteristic of its Monterey heritage.

Just like clockwork, this most recent vintage of J. Lohrrsquo;s legendary Chardonnay has arrived packed with the same rich tropical fruit flavors, intensity and toasty, buttery finish that has been their hallmark for several years. Spicy, oaky and full-bodied for a chardonnay, this wine will hold up well against grilled portabello mushrooms or barbecued chicken.

A complex array of elegant pear, spice, honey, and hazelnut notes, leading up to a nicely smoky, toasted oak finish. Combines richness with depth, concentration and finesse. Has the flavor and complexity of wines two to three times the price.

Delicate aromas of citrus, nectarine and peach with a bouquet of butterscotch, toasted oak, vanilla and butter. The fully ripened fruit and malolactic fermentation provide a luscious texture with stone fruit, lime and buttery flavors balanced with vanilla and toasty oak from the twelve month barrel aging creating a generous, full-flavored Chardonnay characteristic of its Monterey County heritage.
