Chardonnay Riverstone 2009
I enjoyed this California Chardonnay the other night with friends. It was well balanced with notes of vanilla, golden apples and pears, with a little acidity coursing through as well. Very nice!
this is the two and a half men of California Chardonnay.
This Monterey Chardonnay is great value for the price. J. Lohr produces excellent reasonably priced wines of various varietals. This Riverstone Chardonnay has distinct flavors of buttery citrus with a well balanced acidity and tones of stone fruits. It has a smooth finish with no bitter after notes. Load up the truck!

This bottling of Chardonnay, from one of the best white wine sites in Monterey, has kept its quality as well as its price over the years. Dry and zesty in acidity, it has a firm, stony minerality that underlies the apricot, white peach and grapefruit juice flavors. Shows real elegance, at a fair price.
Brisk acidity marks this wine, giving it a mouthwatering quality, and the flavors veer toward lemons, limes and grapefruits, with a richer touch of nectarine and pear. Itrsquo;s a good, everyday Chardonnay, at a fair price.
Just like clockwork, this most recent vintage of J. Lohrrsquo;s legendary Chardonnay has arrived packed with the same rich tropical fruit flavors, intensity and toasty, buttery finish that has been their hallmark for several years. Spicy, oaky and full-bodied for a chardonnay, this wine will hold up well against grilled portabello mushrooms or barbecued chicken.
The grapes for this many-layered Chardonnay come from one of the coldest and windiest coastal regions, allowing them 3ndash;4 extra weeks of ripening before harvest. The extra time is reflected in the creamy toastiness and slight apricot flavor of the rich mouthfeel and long-lasting finish.
A complex array of elegant pear, spice, honey, and hazelnut notes, leading up to a nicely smoky, toasted oak finish. Combines richness with depth, concentration and finesse. Has the flavor and complexity of wines two to three times the price.
One of the best Chards in this price category, this Monterey example is rich in tropical fruit, peach and spice flavors, and crisp in acidity. It has smoky oak, butter cream, a bit of lees - in other words, the works.
