I enjoyed this California Chardonnay the other night with friends. It was well balanced with notes of vanilla, golden apples and pears, with a little acidity coursing through as well. Very nice!

This Monterey Chardonnay is great value for the price. J. Lohr produces excellent reasonably priced wines of various varietals. This Riverstone Chardonnay has distinct flavors of buttery citrus with a well balanced acidity and tones of stone fruits. It has a smooth finish with no bitter after notes. Load up the truck!
External Reviews for Chardonnay Riverstone
The grapes for this many-layered Chardonnay come from one of the coldest and windiest coastal regions, allowing them 3-4 extra weeks of ripening before harvest. The extra time is reflected in the creamy toastiness and slight apricot flavor of the rich mouthfeel and long-lasting finish.
Aromas of lime and grapefruit zest, nectarine, green apricots and wet stones are complemented by a smoky, butter, vanilla and toasted oak bouquet. The flavors echo the aromas with citrus, stone fruits, and smoky, toasty oak, producing layers of complexity with an excellent balance of acidity and palate weight.
A complex array of elegant pear, spice, honey, and hazelnut notes, leading up to a nicely smoky, toasted oak finish. Combines richness with depth, concentration and finesse. Has the flavor and complexity of wines two to three times the price.
This California Chardonnay, from the cool Arroyo Seco region of Monterey County, is a consistent winner. Rich flavors of citrus and stonefruits are balanced by oak and acidity. Serve with pasta primavera, fried calamari or grilled tilapia.
Fresh aromas of lime zest, peach and apple combined with toasty vanilla oak. Monterey flavors focus on clean citrus and butter notes, revealing layers of complexity with an excellent balance of fruit acidity and weight. Ideal with creamy pasta or rich seafood dishes.
This small appellation is a good but little-known source of wonderfully crisp white wines. This Chard is dry but ripe in pineapple and vanilla cream flavors, with a rich coating of smoky oak. This is a good price for a wine of this complexity.
Smooth, spicy and gentle, showing a silky texture, vanilla-scented pear and apricot aromas and flavors, and a sense of elegance on the finish. A subtle, pretty wine for drinking now through 1995.
