Food Pairings for Chappellet Vineyard Red Bordeaux Blend Napa Valley Mountain Cuvée
Editorial Reviews for Chappellet Vineyard Red Bordeaux Blend Napa Valley Mountain Cuvée
Dark and deep with bitter cocoa notes adding detail to some orchard fruit and black fruit, all framed by slightly peppery oak. This is a touch thick and rich and yet it is quite firm. It is classic California with the fruit being round and almost opulent and revealing slightly jammy blackberry flavors, with gentle hints of mint, herbs, earth and mineral adding some complexity. The texture is quite fine, firm and a little tense, yet not really drying or oppressive. The fruit is youthful and tight but obvious with a fine persistence. A bit gangly today, this has obvious potential but is already enjoyable. 90pts
Smooth and balanced. Lovely blend with flavors of chocolate and cherries. Lots of oak. Has a nice finish reminiscent of a fine Scotch. Super for the price.
Lots of Black Cherry, currant and dark fruit on the nose with some toasted spices in the background. The palate is similar but fades pretty quickly into a tart tannin filled finish.
Nice blend of around 50% Cab, Merlot, and a handful of other bordeaux varietals. This wine can taste a little disjointed with oak and acidity, but it has a great core of fruit that wins out, making it a nice drink at a reasonable price. Coming from a winery that produces some of Napa's best cabs, so much the better.
smooth berry aromas, loaded with mountain fruit, raspberries, blackberries, black plums, currants and cocoa. Full bodied and enriching, chocolate finish, smooth texture.
A nice go-to wine, popular with both the "big boy" crowd and those who prefer something more subtle and food-friendly. A nice long finish.
A big red at 14.8% alcohol. Not as much finesse and subtlety as the bordeauxs that this is crafted after. But went well with our steak.
Good wine. I was expecting more, given the name. But overall the wine was quite nice. Very dry, hay/grassy notes, light citrus flavor with high acidity. Not everyones favorite, not mine, but well made.

On the palate, abundant black cherry and cola flavors are supported by soft, rich tannins and a supple texture that leads to a long, satisfying finish.
This is the wine to choose when you re looking for vivid, mouth-filling fruit flavors. Our Mountain Cuvee is a winemaker s blend that beautifully expresses the distinctive qualities of the traditional Bordeaux varietals, and is crafted for early consumption.
Our 2009 Mountain Cuvee shows the appealing depth and nuance of a true Bordeaux blend. The aromas offer a complex mélange of spicy red fruit, rum raison, cedar, sweet tobacco, clove, cinnamon, dark chocolate and bay leaf. On the palate, the texture is smooth and lush, with lingering flavors of sweet cherry and plum. Though there is ample weight and richness, elegance is really the theme of this complex and balanced wine. - Winery ** SOLD OUT **
A stylish Bordeaux blend of Cabernet, Merlot and a dash of Cabernet Franc. Silky, pure mountain fruit with blackberry, red licorice and cedar weighing in full-bodied on the palate. Spicy tar and chewy tannins grip the finish, but the lingering impression is of mouthwatering fruit. Chappellet, a small winery by California terms, produces only 28,000 cases yearly, focusing mainly on Cabernet, Merlot and Chardonnay.
Dark garnet in hue, this wine lifts itself out of the glass with aromas of ripe black cherries and dried herbs. On the tongue it tastes mostly of cherry, with a light hint of smokiness and blueberries that mixes with the mellow tannins for a very drinkable and easy mouthfeel. The long finish has hints of vanilla and other floral elements. This is an excellent food wine, and one that's worth breaking out at most any dinner, especially if you prefer to drink reds no matter what you're eating. The softer tannins mean that it will not clash with more delicate foods, including even fish. If I had to pick an ideal dish to serve it with, I might try individual meat loaves with bacon crisps.
One evening, Tom and I decided to throw a couple of T-Bones on the grill and open this bottle of Cab. Tasting with the Premier crew can be an exhilarating and insightful experience. We have a fanatical tendency to dissect a wine down to its atomic structure. Absorbed in an analytical state of mind, we found ourselves expressing metaphors like sweet cassis and dark currants laced with exotic brown spices and the friendly, fruit-driven style it possessed. Lost in our enthusiasm, we completely forgot about the steaks! I highly recommend this wine with grilled foods, but also suggest that dinner be prepared before the first glass is poured.
A big, beautifully broad and soft Cabernet that will impress the most esteemed palate. This wine is produced in a distinctively superior fashion, making it the perfect food wine. It is balanced and contains rich flavors of currants, blackberry and chocolate, with a big vanilla nose. Enjoy with a rich beef or lamb based dish; this is simply one of those wines with which you cannot go wrong.
