What to Expect

California's Napa Valley has been a source of world-class Cabernet Sauvignon for well over a century. Its warm climate and varied terrain allows for many styles of wine. One thread that runs through almost all the Cabernet based wines from Napa is their lush, ripe full-bodied feel and rich flavors of currant and berry. Wines from the valley floor, particularly around Rutherford, are famed for a dusty quality and those coming from the hillsides surrounding the valley, Mt. Veeder, Diamond Mountain and Howell Mountain for example, tend to be a little leaner with more obvious structural elements.

Winemakers Notes

Complex aromas of cherry blackberry and cedar mingle with bay leaf and a touch of white pepper on the nose. Subtle notes of oak and baking spice add sweetness to the aromas. On the palate a nice blend of red and black fruits is followed by delicate herbal tones and hints of earth and forest floor. Soft integrated tannins give structure and supple texture to the palate making the wine immensely enjoyable even in its youth.

"This is the wine to choose when you're looking for vivid fruit and rich, soft tannins--the perfect wine for the season. Mountain Cuvee is a winemaker's red blend that beautifully expresses the distinctive qualities of the traditional Bordeaux varietals. Each of the grape varieties in the cuvee contributes nuances that harmonize with the other components, resulting in a complex array of aromas and flavors. The wine displays an incredibly aromatic nose, a rich mid-palate and a lengthy finish. - Complex spice aromas and concentrated sweet fruit abound in this wine. The aromas read more...

A big red at 14.8% alcohol. Not as much finesse and subtlety as the bordeauxs that this is crafted after. But went well with our steak.

Vibrant aromas of blackberry, black cherry, dried fruit, and baking spices jump from the glass. In the mouth the wine is rich in dark fruit flavors, with hints of mocha and roasted coffee beans. Full, fairly big tannins are well integrated in the body and fruit character.

A nice go-to wine, popular with both the "big boy" crowd and those who prefer something more subtle and food-friendly. A nice long finish.
