An attractive array of blackberry, smoke, dark chocolate, and bay leaf aromas leads to a lustrous, layered wine. Rich on the palate with a velvet texture, the spicy, ripe, black fruits are beautifully integrated with the oak, tannins, and acidity.
Elegant, with understated cherry, cedar and currant flavors, turning spicy and firm on the finish, where dry tannins weigh in. Best from 2000 through 2006.

A Cabernet Sauvignon wine from California in USA. 2007 Chappellet Cabernet Sauvignon Signature Napa 750ml
This is the wineryrsquo;s basic Cabernet, but therersquo;s nothing common about it. Itrsquo;s dry and complex and moderately ageworthy, a hillside Cabernet that revels in its plush, firm tannins and ripe fruit. Therersquo;s a minerality that seems to come from the soil, with expressive blackberry, currant, chocolate and anise flavors. Really fine now after a decant, and should develop through this decade.
Dark ruby hue. Moderately aromatic with a distinct oak accent. A firm entry leads to a moderately full-bodied palate with a deep core of cassis. Finishes with solid tannins and a fine acidity. Well balanced, and structured for further aging. Drink now or later.
Deftly balanced, striking a tasty mix of ripe blackberry, black cherry and currant, and smooth, toasty vanilla scented oak. Sharply focused, with each sip revealing an added flavor dimension, finishing with supple, well-integrated tannins. A solid effort from a winery that's definitely on the rebound. Drink now through 2010.
A young, tight, closed mountain Cabernet that should follow a graceful aging curve. Pours inky dark, giving off muted aromas of oak, forest floor and wild blackberries. Dense and tannic now, with rich fruit just waiting to emerge. This clasically proportioned wine should begin to be drinkable after 2010.
