Chappellet Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Pritchard Hill Estate Vineyard 2005
Notes on the Chappellet Chardonnay Napa Valley 2005 : WINEMAKER NOTES: Ripe and forward on the nose, the wine displays enticing fresh fruit aromas of pineapple, tangerine and pear with a dash of lemon zest. Hints of creaminess, from malolactic fermentation, blend nicely with the oak notes of clove and nutmeg, producing a wine with layers of complexity. The palate is round and lush with concentrated fruit and a subtle layer of oak spice. The natural acidity of these cool climate Chardonnay grapes gives the wine a firm structure and a refreshing finish. CHAPPELLET CHARDONNAY NAPA VALLEY 2005

Chappelet Cabernet is tasty, rich and well structured, like a good Bordeaux
Stately currant nose, with some barnyard funk. Restrained, but elegantly complex. Very smooth. Acidic, but not at all sour. Velvet hammer. Narrow start, then it unfolds. Some pencil lead. Huge but focused.
We'd normally give a good Chappellet cab a higher rating, but we cracked open a bottle of the 2005 this evening (May '08) and it was a little below expectations. It definitely opened up and got better after it breathed a little. But still not as nice as a bottle of Bordeaux that we opened right after this one for half the price.
Great wine. Really opened up in the decanter. Fruit forward with a hint of chocolate. Full bodied and long finish.
This wine is aging beautifully, we opened a bottle last week and it was amazing... especially with a grea lamb dinner!
Four and a half glasses

Elegantly styled with a wonderful sense of balance. Offers a complex core of currant, anise, sage and a splash of vanilla and mocha, finishing with ripe, fine-grained tannins that flex their muscles on the finish. Best from 2006 through 2012.
A young, tight, closed mountain Cabernet that should follow a graceful aging curve. Pours inky dark, giving off muted aromas of oak, forest floor and wild blackberries. Dense and tannic now, with rich fruit just waiting to emerge. This clasically proportioned wine should begin to be drinkable after 2010.
With ripe, fleshy currant, black cherry, herb and cedary notes, this is an elegant wine with flavors and texture that grow on you, finishing with excellent depth and firm tannins. Drink now through 2010.
The youthful 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon's dense ruby/purple color is followed by classic aromas of creme de cassis, white flowers, crushed rocks, and a subtle touch of wood. Medium-bodied with a sweet attack, firm tannin, and beautiful purity, texture as well as length, it will benefit from another 1-3 years of cellaring, and should keep for 12-15+ years.
The rocky soils of Pritchard Hill above Napa Valley produce some of the region's most collectible wines, and Chappellet, founded in 1967, is one of the area's established producers. The warm, consistent growing season combined with strict control of the crop allowed winemaker Phillip Corallo-Titus to produce this graceful yet complex wine.
A fabulous buy, the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Signature offers abundant notes of blueberries, cassis, violets, licorice, and incense. Sweet tannins, an opulent, rich, full-bodied mouthfeel, and a velvety finish make this one of the most impressive 2006s I tasted. It can be drunk now or over the next 15-20 years.
Assertive herb, anise, blackberry and wild berry fruit is tight, firm, tannic and well-structured, picking up depth and length on the finish. Best from 2010 through 2016.
