What to Expect

Sangiovese's claim to fame is its role as the heart of Chianti, Brunello and many Super Tuscan wines though it is gaining ground as a varietal wine around the globe. When grown in a suitable location the grape's soft tannins, succulent acidity and moderately intense cherry and herb flavors make Sangiovese very easy to drink as well as supremely versatile at the dinner table.

Reviews

Aromas: Bright, youthful bouquet of boysenberry, baked cherry, red licorice and grenadine is balanced by toasty oak and nutmeg nuances. Flavors: Fleshy ripe blueberry and plum fruit warmed by alcohol and spicy oak with a touch of vanilla. Firm acidity gives tone and vibrancy to the flavors and mouthfeel.

Awesome stuff! The latest rating shown is from 2005. Apparently the 4 extra years (it is now 2009) were very kind to this wine. Wonderful and although still quite tannic, has a very nice balance of youthful fruit and bottle bouquet. Quite frankly this wine has stunned me. I didn't expect this type of complexity out of a Sangiovese. I would rate it a 94. This wine has at least another 10 years of life in it.
