What to Expect
Coming from a Granite hillside in the north of France's Rhone Valley, Hermitage is one of the world's greatest expressions of the Syrah grape. Blessed with a full southern exposition, the hill of Hermitage allows the vines to fully ripen, yet its poor soils stress the vines, reducing yields and ensuring a remarkable complexity in the finished wines. The wines tend to be medium to medium-full bodied with bright acidity and velvety tannins that are enmeshed in slightly gamey, olive scented fruit that recalls black raspberries and boysenberries.

Reviews Add a Review
The 1996 Hermitage La Sizeranne, which has been aged in 50% new oak casks, possesses a black/purple color, as well as a dense, smoky, concentrated full bodied palate, moderate tannin, good acidity, and outstanding purity and density. It will cellar for 25 years. This cuvee is now made primarily from the vineyards Les Greffieux, Meal and Bessards.
