Chapoutier Crozes Hermitage les Varonnieres Syrah Wine 2013

External Review:

More meaty and masculine with smoky meaty peppery and olive-laced aromas and flavors the 2012 Crozes-Hermitage Les Varonnieres is a medium-bodied juicy and nicely focused Syrah to drink over the coming 7-8 years. - Jeb Dunnuck Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.

M. Chapoutier:
The name CHAPOUTIER is present in the Rhône Valley since 1808. In 1879, the distant ancestor Polydor CHAPOUTIER was the first to begin to buy vines, thus moving from the status of wine-grower of an estate to that of a viticulturist, a wine producer and a businessman. The pioneering spirit was already present in the family.

Opaque ruby. Intense cherry and dark berry scents are enlivened by bright mineral and spice nuances. Deeply pitched blackberry and bitter cherry flavors show power as well as finesse with a sexy floral pastille note adding complexity. The minerality adds bite to the finish which lingers with impressive energy and persistence. Stephen Tanzers IWC.

The inky/purple-colored elegant full-bodied 2009 Crozes-Hermitage Les Varonnieres (1 064 cases) exhibits attractive notes of licorice black olives creme de cassis forest floor and roasted herbs as well as zesty acidity for the vintage. It should drink beautifully for 15+ years. 92+ -Robert Parker Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.

Vintage: 2007 01/14/2014

The 2007 Crozes-Hermitage Les Varonnieres is a lighter effort displaying an attractive deep ruby/purple hue as well as outstanding concentration and purity but not quite the weight and nuances of the 2006. More flattering and upfront stylistically it should drink well for 15 years. Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.
