Chapoutier Chateauneuf du Pape Croix de Bois Proprietary Blend Wine Premier 2011

External Review by JJ Buckley Fine Wines:

With more richness and depth and showing the classic fruit-forward and up-front profile of the terroir the 2011 Chateauneuf du Pape Croix de Bois is 100% Grenache that comes from the southeastern part of the appellation. Loaded with notions of strawberries kirsch underbrush and garrigue it has medium to full-bodied richness with a supple fleshy and hedonistically styled feel on the palate. As with the La Bernardine I don't see this making old bones yet it should provide ample pleasure for upward of a decade. Drink now-2021. - Jeb Dunnuck Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.

M. Chapoutier:
The name CHAPOUTIER is present in the Rhône Valley since 1808. In 1879, the distant ancestor Polydor CHAPOUTIER was the first to begin to buy vines, thus moving from the status of wine-grower of an estate to that of a viticulturist, a wine producer and a businessman. The pioneering spirit was already present in the family.

Bright ruby. High-pitched red berry and floral aromas show very good intensity and a sexy spicecake nuance. Juicy penetrating and seamless offering vibrant raspberry and cherry flavors lifted by tangy acidity. Finishes lively and long with resonating spiciness. Stephen Tanzers IWC.

Dark crimson. Very sweet and round. Super-juicy fruit with extra intensity and a bit more smoothness than the average Tradition bottling. Fresh finish. Just a little alcohol obvious on the finish. 17/20 Jancis Robinson.
