This one may get better for me, but on first taste, even after a few seconds of swirling, I found it to be bland and uninteresting. I have had Chapelle St Arnoux Cotes du Rhone from other years and it was bolder and more satisfying to me. For the price, this one was fine for the evening while chilling at home, but I would not give this as a gift and definitely not for a party or hostess gift. (unless the person prefers light light reds)

This wine starts off with a very soft, sweet nose. It reminded me of a berry jam or jelly, with a light fruitiness I wasn't expecting, even from a Rhone. After allowing the bottle to breathe and swirling the wine in my glass, the first drink hits you with a silky mouthfeel and smooth, fruity, plumlike flavor notes. There is not a strong sense of alcohol in this wine compared to some reds and while you can taste a bit of tartness, it is not terribly sour nor loaded with tannins. Unfortunately, after each drink, there is a bit of an almost astringent sensation in the back of your palette, but it is not overwhelming or necessarily unpleasant. I, personally, prefer Louie Jadot Rhones over this wine, but it is a decent Rhone for the price and a welcome addition to any table wine collection.
