User Reviews for Chanson Père Fils & Montagny Premier Cru

Winemaker's Notes:

With a history dating back to 1750, this fine Domaine was founded during the reign of Louis XV. When the Chanson family took full control in the 1800s, they already had substantial holdings in Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune and Pernand-Vergelesses, which they added to the business. Ownership of some of the top Premiers and Grands Crus vineyards in Burgundy remains a priority for the house. Their 45 hectare Domaine is managed by Gilles de Courcel and his experienced, dedicated team. Winemaker Jean-Pierre Confuron of the celebrated Vosne-Romanée dynasty continues to improve quality selection of fruit and the refurbished Bastion de l’Oratoire in Beaune is now home to a state of the art fermentation room as well as being the perfect environment for gentle maturation of their crus. This Montagny 1er Cru Chardonnay shows pale gold with rich nuances of flowers, exotic fruit, and vanilla. It is a well-balanced, well-structured and generous wine with very pure fruit on the palate, and well-integrated acidity topped with a deliciously long finish. Though inexpensive this wine makes for a wonderful dinner party accompaniment as it pairs fantastically with pâté, lobsters and poultry, as well as many goats cheeses.
