Chanson Père et Fils Viré-Clessé 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

With a history dating back to 1750, this fine Domaine was founded during the reign of Louis XV. When the Chanson family took full control in the 1800s, they already had substantial holdings in Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune and Pernand-Vergelesses, which they added to the business. Ownership of some of the top Premiers and Grands Crus vineyards in Burgundy remains a priority for the house. Their 45 hectare Domaine is managed by Gilles de Courcel and his experienced, dedicated team. Winemaker Jean-Pierre Confuron of the celebrated Vosne-Romanée dynasty continues to improve quality selection of fruit and the refurbished Bastion de l’Oratoire in Beaune is now home to a state of the art fermentation room as well as being the perfect environment for gentle maturation of their crus. "Les Clos" is one of the most famous Grands Crus of Chablis. The vines selected by Chanson are ideally located right in the heart of the plot. The upper part of the plot brings the minerality and the lower part with alluvion deposits gives the rich character of this wine. Domaine Chanson Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos shows pale gold, expressing intense floral fragrances mixed with aromas of green apple, honey and vanilla enhanced by a very refined minerality. This wine is generous, densely textured and complex. It's excellent structure, tense and lean body make it a remarkable Chablis with a beautiful aromatic combination. It finishes with outstanding persistence, so if you're a Chablis-lover give this one a try. Pair with foie gras, shellfish, fish, white meat as well as some goat cheeses for really excellent results.
