Chanson Père et Fils Pinot Noir Bourgogne le Bourgogne 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

With a history dating back to 1750, this fine Domaine was founded during the reign of Louis XV. When the Chanson family took full control in the 1800s, they already had substantial holdings in Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune and Pernand-Vergelesses, which they added to the business. Ownership of some of the top Premiers and Grands Crus vineyards in Burgundy remains a priority for the house. Their 45 hectare Domaine is managed by Gilles de Courcel and his experienced, dedicated team. Winemaker Jean-Pierre Confuron of the celebrated Vosne-Romanée dynasty continues to improve quality selection of fruit and the refurbished Bastion de l’Oratoire in Beaune is now home to a state of the art fermentation room as well as being the perfect environment for gentle maturation of their crus. Le Bourgogne Pinot Noir shows bright red with dark purple nuances. Intense aromas of red currant and liquorice with a hint of spice delight the senses. This Pinot Noir is concentrated and complex, refreshing and lively with very pure fruit aromas and spicy nuances in the finish. It is the ideal "everyday" Burgundy, ideal with braised and roasted meats, as well as meat-sauced pastas.

In the XIX the Chanson Family took control and the company continued to expand under the leadership of Alexis Chanson. The Chanson family already owned a large Domaine located across Beaune, Savigny les Beaune and Pernand Vergelesses which was added to the company’s assets, thus giving it a new dimension. Chanson survived the Phylloxera crisis and continued to increase the size of their holdings. Visits by appiontment. Read less
