Chanson Père et Fils Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Fèves 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

With a history dating back to 1750, this fine Domaine was founded during the reign of Louis XV. When the Chanson family took full control in the 1800s, they already had substantial holdings in Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune and Pernand-Vergelesses, which they added to the business. Ownership of some of the top Premiers and Grands Crus vineyards in Burgundy remains a priority for the house. Their 45 hectare Domaine is managed by Gilles de Courcel and his experienced, dedicated team. Winemaker Jean-Pierre Confuron of the celebrated Vosne-Romanée dynasty continues to improve quality selection of fruit and the refurbished Bastion de l’Oratoire in Beaune is now home to a state of the art fermentation room as well as being the perfect environment for gentle maturation of their crus. The 2006 harvest commenced in mid-September in perfect conditions. Careful selection of grapes in the vineyard and winery have produced beautiful wines with very pure aromas. Beaune Clos des Fèves shows very dark ruby in colour. Very refreshing aromas of red berries mixed with tobacco and vanilla combine to create an ample and well-structured Pinot Noir. It is deliciously dense and tight, with well integrated oak notes, elegant tannic structure and a good persistence. This wonderful wine is superbly matched to game, particularly pheasant, poultry and all the classic cheeses.

In the XIX the Chanson Family took control and the company continued to expand under the leadership of Alexis Chanson. The Chanson family already owned a large Domaine located across Beaune, Savigny les Beaune and Pernand Vergelesses which was added to the company’s assets, thus giving it a new dimension. Chanson survived the Phylloxera crisis and continued to increase the size of their holdings. Visits by appiontment. Read less

Dense, yet elegant and pure. Blackberry, cherry, mineral and spice aromas and flavors stain the palate and persist through the lingering finish. The aftertaste is long and focused, a sure sign of good things to come. Best from 2015 through 2035. 100 ... Wine Spectator. Founded in 1750, Chanson is one of the five grand "shippers" of Burgundy's Côte d'Or-an estate steeped in centuries-old tradition and rich in viticultural history. As a négociant (winemaker and merchant) and a domaine (vineyard estate), Chanson has represented the best of Burgundy for more than 250 years, growing its own grapes, partnering with other growers, bottling, selling, and shipping its own wines. Chanson's holdings comprise some of Burgundy's most coveted vineyards (over 90 acres, including 10 Premier Crus, one Grand Cru (Corton), and a rare monopole Premier Cru vineyard. Chanson can count French philosophe Voltaire, romantic poet Lamartine, and the Bonaparte family among its clients. This Grand Cru scored 93 points in Wine Spectator who said "Dense, yet elegant and pure. Blackberry, cherry, mineral and spice aromas and flavors stain the palate and persist through the lingering finish. The aftertaste is long and focused, a sure sign of good things to come. Best from 2015 through 2035." Very Limited!! ON SALE!!

Medium ruby red at its core with light plum red rim. Some nice chalky aromas abound with black cherry, boysenberry preserve, and red currant. Nicely integrated wood frames the wine nicely. Lots of excellent fruit on the pallate followed by some notes... Alex Lallos. A Pinot Noir wine from Burgundy in France. 2002 Chanson Père et Fils Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Fèves 750ml
