Chanson Père & Fils Corton-Vergennes 2005
With a history dating back to 1750, this fine Domaine was founded during the reign of Louis XV. When the Chanson family took full control in the 1800s, they already had substantial holdings in Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune and Pernand-Vergelesses, which they added to the business. Ownership of some of the top Premiers and Grands Crus vineyards in Burgundy remains a priority for the house. Their 45 hectare Domaine is managed by Gilles de Courcel and his experienced, dedicated team. Winemaker Jean-Pierre Confuron of the celebrated Vosne-Romanée dynasty continues to improve quality selection of fruit and the refurbished Bastion de l’Oratoire in Beaune is now home to a state of the art fermentation room as well as being the perfect environment for gentle maturation of their crus. Corton Vergennes Grand Cru is a very small single vineyard shared between Chanson and the Hospices de Beaune on a hump of the hill of Corton. It shows Bright gold, expressing aromas of pale fleshed fruit (apple, pear)and honey with a mineral note and a hint of vanilla. Beautifully structured with a fine grained texture this Chardonnay is ample, very pure, powerful and complex. A precise acidity and well-integrated minerality and subtle oak note complete its perfections while its long and generous aftertaste assure you will remember this unforgettable Chardonnay.
I like this chardonnay. It has a clear crisp taste with earth notes.
