Champagne Tarlant Zero Brut Nature 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

1/3 Chardonnay, 1/3 Pinot Noir, 1/3 Pinot Meunier. The Zero Brut Nature makes up 60% of Tarlant's production and sets the standards and expectations for their wines: an emphasis on terroir with no diversion from added yeast or dosage. The non-vintage is generally composed of 60% of a base vintage and 40% of reserve wines going back 3 to 4 years, in this case the base being 2008 with reserve from 2007, 2006 and 2005. The sustainably farmed, hand-harvested fruit is from estate parcels in 4 villages (Oeuilly, Boursault, St-Agnan and Celles-lès-Condé) in the Vallée de la Marne. After gentle pressing, the juice is fermented with natural yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. The hand-harvested fruit is gently pressed and the juice fermented with natural yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. The wine does not go through malolactic fermentation. Moved by gravity only, the new vintage is blended with barrel-aged reserve wine and aged sur lattes. Hand-riddled and disgorged in May 2014 and finished with zero dosage.
