Champagne Taittinger is one of the few remaining family owned and operated Champagne houses. The firm is distinguished for its extensive vineyard holdings of 752 acres, including prestigious Grand Cru vineyards in the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims regions. Unlike most large houses, Champagne Taittinger relies primarily on estate grapes for its portfolio of Champagnes. Also unique are the higher proportion of Chardonnay in its wines that gives Taittinger its signature style, and the time devoted to aging the wines before release—most often greatly exceeding the legal requirement, in a practice that also has become a Taittinger hallmark. Distinguished for its extensive vineyard holdings of 752 acres, including prestigious Grand Cru vineyards. Highest-quality production: exceeding minimum aging for all cuvées, high percentage of estate grapes, sustainable practices. Uses a higher proportion of Chardonnay grapes in its blends than other large houses—Taittinger’s unique personality. Critical acclaim: consistently outstanding (90+) scores, worldwide recognition among connoisseurs Read less

This is elegant and harmonious, offering vanilla, graphite and toast aromas and flavors. The texture is refined, and this builds to a long, coffee- and pastry-tinged finish. Drink now through 2010. 320 cases imported. BS - Wine Spectator Magazine 91 Points

The NV Brut Grand Cru Prelude is equal parts Chardonnay and Pinot Noir all from Grand Cru vineyards. This shows a compelling balance between the weight of the Pinot and the freshness of the Chardonnay in a soft creamy style that is appealing. This is Lot L9346TA01300 disgorged October 2009 (not indicated on label). Anticipated maturity: 2010-2015. -AG Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.

Medium ruby hue. A distinctly fruity nose offers up notes of mostly cherry but there are also nuances of raspberry strawberry and yeast hints. The delicious clean and exuberant flavors display more yeast character than the nose particularly on the crisp and equally clean finish that offers acceptable depth but very good persistence. Burghound.
