Chambolle Musigny les Baudes Louis Jadot 93 Jg 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

"Bright medium red. Captivating scents of red cherry, rose petal, coffee, menthol, crushed stone and wild herbs. Silky, suave and concentrated; like a red fruit cocktail in the mouth, complicated by minerals and wild herbs. Showy and vibrant today. Finishes bright and very long, with terrific energy and grip...91-94" IWC 1/12 "The 2010 Les Baudes is exceptional, with the depth, mid-palate sappiness and beautiful transparency to its underlying terroir of the top wines of the vintage. The great nose soars from the glass in a youthful blend of black cherries, dark berries, espresso, really complex soil tones, woodsmoke, fresh herbs and a deft touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, fullish and utterly suave, with superb focus, a sappy core, great soil signature, refined tannins and exceptional length and grip on the perfectly poised and youthful finish. Just a beautiful bottle of Baudes...93+" John Gilman, A View from the Cellar 12/11 "A pure if brooding and very densely fruited nose speaks of menthol and dark berry fruit aromas. The impressive rich and overtly powerful flavors are shaped by a very solid and notably firm tannic spine that culminate in a muscular and extract rich finish that even with all of the buffering extract, remains youthfully austere at present. As is typically the case, this is not as refined as the Fuées but it's more powerful. Indeed this reminds more than a little of a scaled down version of a fine Bonnes Mares and it will in all probability age like one too...91-94" BH 04/12

Maison Louis Jadot is a winery that’s proud of its heritage and land. Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, Maison Jadot expanded rapidly, taking northern Europe by storm. When his son, Louis Jean Baptiste, took over in 1900, more change took place, and many vineyards were acquired, including Corton Charlemagne and Chevalier Montrachet Les Demoiselles. With the help of Rudy Kopf, founder of the Kobrand Corporation, Maison Jadot expanded even further, setting up shop in both England and the U.S. In 1985, Madame Jadot sold the company to Rudy Kopf’s family, ensuring a successful future for the company. The land is very important to Maison Louis Jadot, and making the terroir shine through is always a priority. Maison Jadot identifies with its Burgundy heritage, and all wines are Appellation Contrôlée. The winery controls about 380 acres of land in Burgundy, including Côte d'Or, Mâconnais and Beaujolais. Jacques Lardière, winemaster, works with Christine, Guillaume, and Audrey to ensure that the single-variety wines produced, including Pinot Noir for reds, Chardonnay for whites, and Gamay for Beaujolais, always produce the best, most consistent wines.
