Chambolle Musigny Domaine Taupenot-Merme 2013

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought this bottle of wine for £25 from the website www.bidforwine.co.uk/auctions/show/134612.Chambolle Musigny is an appellation created in 1936,although there has been viticulture here since at least the Romans, for red wines made from pinot noir from the commune of that name. This is located south of Morey-Saint-Denis and north of Vosne-Romanee on the Cotes de Nuits in the Burgundy wine region. There are two Grand Cru vineyards,Musigny and Bonne-Mares,although these have their own appellations,as well as 25 Premier Cru but my bottle is only a village level wine from a small family concern.I started the bottle the other evening with my steak supper. There is plenty of cherry, raspberry and cranberry style fruit.Initially it was a little tannic but it soon smoothed and mellowed out to reveal a full bodied and well structured wine.In short, this was a nice bottle that went well with the steak.
