Chambers Rosewood Muscat Rare 2010

External Review by Wine Gems @ Perriello's:

Rutherglen, AustraliaSince establishment in 1858 in Victoria's famed Rutherglen region, winemaking duties at Chambers Rosewood have been handed down from father to son through five generations. Recognized the world over for their complexity, intensity and balance, these Muscats and Muscadelles are a national relic; wines expertly crafted from unctuous material that has matured in the family cellars for more than a century. This dessert wine gem has received astonishing ratings from the world's top critics: Parker 95, Tanzer 96, Wine & Spirits 91. You owe it to yourself to taste this elixir of the gods!To make Chambers Rosewood Muscat, grapes of Muscat a Petit Grains ripen and shrivel on the vines producing natural sugar levels in the range of 30-36 degrees Brix. The raisined grapes are then picked, crushed and partially fermented before fortification. Wood aging follows in a program loosely resembling a solera system, lasting, in same cases, for over 100 years. The wine is amber gold in color with copper hues, the nose offers fresh raisins, sultanas, lifted spirit and cinnamon oak spices. The palate is rich and silky, its sweet dried fruits balanced by aged oak tannins and bright acidity, providing a clean, rather than cloying, finish.Enjoy Chambers Rosewood Muscat as a dessert in itself or with pannacotta, fruit tarts and dessert cheeses.

A rare and delicious dessert wine from Australia; what the Australians call a "sticky". Renowned critic Robert Parker noted, "Chambers Rosewood Vineyards makes my short list of greatest fortified wine producers. The winery was started in 1858 and continues to be owned by the Chambers family. Some of the material for these blends is over 100 years old." This Muscat has extraorinary layers of sweet flavors including maple, honey, orange, apricots and nuts. A tremendous bargain.

Medium amber in color, this Muscat boasts scents of berries, pineapple and raisin to go with flavors of honey and spice. It’s a lush, sweet style, with less complexity than some, but great texture and length. β€” J.C. - Wine Enthusiast Magazine 90 Points ** Only 6 in Stock **

Limpid ruby and amber in color, a nose full of rose petals, cherries and coffee, syrupy sweet, balanced with a touch of bitterness weaving through the dried cherry and tea leaf notes on the finish.

Sourced from material aged between six and ten years old, this wine is the foundation of the style; displaying the fresh raisin aromas, rich fruit, clean spirit and great length of flavor on the palate which are the mark of all the Muscats of Rutherglen.

My notes essentially read the same every year, even though the bottlings are non-vintage and I taste the most recent releases. Consistency and greatness are the norm at this Rutherglen winery. The average age is 7-10 years for the regular cuvees, abo... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. A Muscat wine from Victoria in Australia. N.V. Chambers Rosewood Vineyards Muscat 375ml
