Chalk Hill Merlot Russian River 2005
Wine Tasting Notes The 2005 Chalk Hill Merlot contains 21% Malbec, which contributes blue fruit and flesh to the wines suppleness and structure. The intense purple wine lends aromas of bramble, berries, exotic spices, tobacco, molasses, and floral notes of violets and lavender. Ripe tannins encase mouth-filling, round flavors of anise, plum, blackberry and brown spice.
Enjoyed it for $120 at Nobu's in Honolulu. Tasted great with new style sashimi.

At Chalk Hill, our small production Merlot comes from four south-west facing vineyards on steep slopes. Our Merlots soft yet elegant structure is created in the vineyard through low yields, abundant sun exposure, canopy management and hang time. We wait for a softening of tanin which coincides with berry softerning before the grapes are picked. Five different clones of the Merlot grape contribute to the final blend. - Winery ** Only 2 in Stock **
