Chalk Hill Estate Winery Chardonnay 2000

Member Review by Chill2000:

This is an excellent Chardonnay! I drank this with Calimari and a Veal Chop with Swiss Chard. Excellent fruit and acid balance. Even aftger 9-years from harvets this Chardonnay is young!!!!! Will continue to improves for a few more years... Underrated by most drinkers in the early years!

Chalk Hill Estate Winery has a very unique terroir and climate, and when Fred Furth, founder of the winery, flew over the land in 1972, he knew that it had the potential to be a top-class vineyard. Chalk Hill Estate Winery is located in the Chalk Hill AVA, part of Sonoma County, and it is the only estate winery located within that AVA. The land itself borders the cooler Russian River Valley and the warmer Alexander Valley, meaning that the 1,400 acre vineyard has a wide range of soil types and a microclimate that is unique to the region. Lisa Bishop Forbes, Chalk Hill’s winemaker, has managed to take the varied grapes that the region produces and turn them into extremely successful wines, especially Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and the winery’s Estate Red.
