User Reviews for Chalk Hill Estate Russian River Valley Chardonnay
Add your reviewtoo much oak, it over powers. on the nose, I feel like I am about to have a chardonnay. I like chardonnay but not when I am desiring a crisp sauvignon blanc
Banana, butternut cream and vanilla, some pineapple and oak aromas. Nice acidity on palate, apples, pineapples, lemon curd/pie, a roundness but not in a bad way, very enjoyable on its own and even better with cheese.
Pineapple, soft vanilla oak, licorice spice and perhaps a little delicious apple greet the nose. Yellow color - though short of summertime dandelion intensity - nonetheless indicative of the catch-phrase "Drink Now!" Warm yet sweet in texture, this wine retains a certain astringency that detracts, but otherwise a sound, well-priced Cali wine. Recommended. The 2009 is up next.

WE 92pts. - According to the Wine Enthusiast: A bright, beautifully brisk Sauvignon Blanc, marked with crisp acidity and racy flavors of citrus fruits and gooseberries, accented with sweet oak. It's a creamy, deliciously complex wine, and although it s fully dry, it finishes with a honeyed richness. The 2008 Sauvignon blanc expresses the intense and exotic fruit character of the variety and is ripe, complex and mouth filling on the palate. This wine is a blend of nine different clones of Sauvignon blanc and two clones of Sauvignon gris grown on the Estate. Sauvignon gris ripe stone fruit flavors plus its weight and texture provide a pleasing counterpoint to the more bright tropical and citrus aspects of the other Sauvignon blanc clones. This wine has an abundance of tropical and citrus elements on the nose and palate...
Aromas are concentrated and complex – white flower, sweet cream, ripe peach, lemon oil and wet stone – leading to a palate anchored with rich minerality and tropical and stone fruit. A clean acidity and mouth-filling texture unite pear, pineapple and sweet orange fruit with subtly sweet brown spice and honeyed toast.
The rich palate of tropical fruit is balanced by a distinct minerality typical of Chardonnay wines from the Estate. This wine can be enjoyed alone or alongside a wide variety of dishes including crab, scallops, fish and roasted chicken. - Winery

Very, very sweet and decadent, like pure honey. Nectar of the gods-type wine, oozing spicy apricot, orange, roasted almond and vanilla honey flavors. To describe the mouthfeel as creamy hardly does it justice, it s so viscous and glyceriney. A magnificent dessert wine to savor. - According to the Wine Enthusiast
Winemaker's Notes:

The rich palate of tropical fruit is balanced by a distinct minerality typical of Chardonnay wines from the Estate. This wine can be enjoyed alone or alongside a wide variety of dishes including crab, scallops, fish and roasted chicken. It is the perfect accompaniment to rich butter or cream sauces.
