This may very well prove to be the finest Branaire ever produced. The heat of the year produced very low yields that resulted in wines of uncommon richness yet the vineyards were expertly managed avoiding the raisin character that plagues many 03's. Explosive red fruits, subtle coffee, cocoa, and toffeed oak notes, and deep minerality all combine to yield a wine that will serve as a benchmark for years to come. Exceptional!

One of the great estates of southern Saint-Julien producing wines whose regularity in succeeding vintages is remarkable. For 2003 Branaire has produced a dark wine with dry powerful tannins coming from very ripe fruit. The wood is dry and toasty leaving a general impression of a wine that will age at a stately pace. Wine Enthusiast.
