Cesari Sangiovese di Romagna Umberto 2005
Tasting Notes: Intense ruby red colour with a touch of pomegranate. The aroma is vinous, intense, with a touch of violet. the flavour is dry, ample, rich and a little tannic. It is a suitable wine for rihcly flavoured first courses, like the classic lasagne, or else with red meat, especially when roasted, or again with game or seasoned cheeses, such as typical Parmigiano Reggiano. It should be served at a temperature of 16°C. Percentage Grape: 85% Sangiovese 15% Cabernet Sauvignon Alcohol Percentage: 12.5 % Sugar Rate: 0-5 g/l
A solid sangiovese, better than many that carry a black rooster and several that cost more, it's much heavier on the nose, with cherries, than in the mouth where it's pleasantly dry and pleasantly light on tannins.
This is an excellent Sangiovese. Smooth and delicious.

Tasting notes The aroma is vinous, intense, with a touch of violet. The flavour is dry, ample, rich and a little tannic. Wine maker notes The selected large Sangiovese clone vine-stocks which are behind this red wine are cultivated in the appropriate growing areas belonging to properties in the hills surrounding Castel San Pietro and Imola. Only the best clusters are made into wine, and fermentation takes place in conditioned tanks with temperature control. This is followed by 24 months ageing, partly in Slavonia and Allier oak, which gives this wine an intense ruby red colour with a touch of pomegranate. Food pairing It is a suitable wine for richly flavoured first courses, like the classic lasagna, or else with red meat, especially when roasted, or again with game or seasoned cheeses, such as the typical Parmigiano Reggiano.
Aged in old wood foudres, the 1999 Sangiovese Riserva possesses copious quantities of uncomplicated, rich, savory grapy black fruits. This wine's fine purity as well as attractive plumpness result in a tasty offering to enjoy over the next 2-3 years.
A little lighter than Chianti, and not quite as dry, with smooth dried cherry and cranberry flavors mingled with suggestions of leather and spice that play out nicely on the finish. The flavors are perfectly balanced and elegant. Probably should be selling for three times the price.
