Ceretto Bricco Rocche Barolo Prapo Piedmont 2007

External Review by We Speak Wine:

The 2007 Barolo Prapo bursts from the glass with a display of muscular dark fruit, licorice, leather, tar and smoke all of which come together on a dense, full-throttle frame. A powerful, imposing Barolo, the Prapo is likely to require a bit of patience. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2032. - Robert Parker 94 Points Good medium red. Warm aromas of plum, strawberry, currant and underbrush. The palate offers good red fruit complexity with a light floral nuance. Not especially pristine or youthful but aging appropriately. - Stephen Tanzer 88 Points ** Only 5 in Stock **

The 2005 Barolo Prapo is a dark, sensual wine shrouded in a veil of gorgeous fruit. Sweet balsamic notes emerge as the wine sits in the glass, followed by masses of rich dark fruit. The tannins build on the finish in a classic expression of Serralunga yet the wine has more than enough sweetness and density to provide a beautiful foil to the wine's structural components. Rising notes of spices, iron, licorice, menthol and flowers on the close make it impossible to resist a second taste. This is an incredibly well-balanced, powerful Barolo from Ceretto. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2025. Good full red. Smoky red plum and some oak tones on the nose; less expressive than the Brunate. Then broad and sweet on the front half but showing limited complexity today. Seems quite unevolved, but the somewhat dry tannins make me wonder if the wines fruit will outlast them. ** SOLD OUT **
